The Buddy Network is a project that provides additional support for 11-19yr olds in North Yorkshire.
Buddies provide befriending and ongoing support for young people who have been working with a range of practitioners i.e. Early Help Team from NYCC, NYY Youth Mentors etc.
Together, the buddy and young person (and practitioner in some instances) will develop a befriending agreement and identify progression routes and goals. The buddy and young person will meet regularly for a period of approximately 6 months. Meetings will follow a simple framework to allow progression and reflection.
Volunteer Buddies will receive training and support from NYY to engage with young people in their own communities and support them as they progress towards their personal goals and independence.
