Volunteers Week 2025

Volunteers Week

As we enter volunteer’s week, it is brilliant to see North Yorkshire Youth’s (NYY) volunteer schemes being promoted far and wide. These volunteer schemes include ‘The Buddy Network’ and ‘The Independent Visitors Scheme’; both offering extremely valuable support to young people across North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Council has published a great interview with two of NYY’s fantastic volunteers from these schemes, sharing information about who they are and the positive impact this work has on the volunteers themselves and the young people they support. If you would like to read the full article, you can do so here.

We are also proud to see that the National Independent Visitor Service has been promoted recently by BBC Morning Live. This is a truly touching piece, hearing from the young person and Independent Visitor about their experiences together. You can view the episode here (the segment starts at 44.05 and lasts for about 8 minutes).

NYY couldn’t be prouder of their amazing volunteers, who show patience, dedication, compassion and care to all the young people they support.

North Yorkshire Youth offer a range of volunteering opportunities including:

  • Youth Work Volunteers
  • Buddy Network scheme
  • Independent Visitor scheme
